Carlene Carter Fan Club: Music

"Maverick... The Soundtrack" CD

("Something Already Gone")
Atlantic Records - May 17, 1994

Track #5 - "Something Already Gone," written by Carlene Carter / Al Anderson.

Produced by James Stroud and Carlene Carter.

Released as a single, and video showing live footage of Carlene on the road.

Carlene is one of several country music stars appearing in cameo parts in the film. About "Maverick" star Mel Gibson, Carlene told Country Weekly: "He's so nice. He's totally unaffected by his stardom--he's just a real down-to-earth guy."

About her look in the film, Carlene told the magazine: "I play a waitress and my hair was up and they put my bangs in little ringlets. I said, 'Listen, no one is going to recognize me. What is the point of doing a cameo if they don't see my bangs?' They said that bangs weren't really 1800s, so I told them, 'Well, I was a new wave waitress.' I had the figure of the century. I had a bustle. They had me cinched up in a corset and I stood all day long, holding champagne glasses on a silver tray. I'm not kidding--you start at eight o'clock in the morning in a bustle, with high heels, little lace-up boots and a long dress. It's hot. And holding the tray up... I started thinking, maybe movies aren't for me. Give me videos any day."
